How to knit something

How I did it: I taught myself and have since made purses, scarfs and hats. I'm even working on a blanket.
I remember finding my moms old needles in a bag when I was like 12 and a book with decent illustrations. I picked it up and was determined to figure out how to do it. Once I got the cast on figured out I was pretty much set.
Lessons & tips: Don't try to use a chenille yarn first off...it sucks the way it tangles up and when you're first learning it really deters you.
be willing to try things.
look for yarn in stores like Ocean State Job Lots etc, it's much cheaper than AC Moore or whatever, and they tend to have needles too.
