How to quit woolworths
How I did it: ok, so it all started in about july this year, when we got a new manager. He was really rude, would treat us after-school casual's like shit, and i just couldnt take it much longer. He would only roster me down for about 10 hours each week, when in reality, there would be weeks, where i'd be working every day! (Whilst in my final year of school, which was not good.)
So, enough was enough really. In september,i took the plunge, and applied for a new job, at another company that was owned by woolworths. I was promised the job, and all i had to do, was to get my department manager (which was the one that i had the problems with!), and my store manager to sign a form, to let me transfer.
Sounds relitevely easy, right?
Wrong.
The next day, i got the form, took it to my department manager, who spent two weeks, trying to talk me out of it, then left it on his desk, and tried to forget about it.
About a mounth later, me and another girl found it, and basically just shoved it onto our store manager's desk.
My store manager also tried to talk me out of it, and convediently forgot to sign it as well.
In about november, i got a call from the other company, who wondered why it was taking so long to transfer me, and told me that i could start the next week.
So, i went back to woolworths, and wrote them a resignation letter, basically telling them that i quit, and started my new job.
I've personally never been happier, and have influenced others to quit as well!
Lessons & tips:
- Dont give in to your managers trying to talk you out of it. It gets you nowhere, and you'll be sucked back into working at woolies.
- If your transfering stores/companys (like from woolies to ..dick smith/big w/tandy/bws/.etc), dont give up when your managers try to talk you out of it/lose your form convediently..its worth it in the long run.
