How I did it: I had to be honest with myself. I have always wanted to do three things; write, be a psychologist, and open a bakery/tea/coffee house. Even though I knew what I wanted to do, I was afraid that I may not be able to make a living with it. I kept listening to people talk about how very few businesses survive, how difficult it is to be a writer and how competitive psychology PHD programs are to get into. But now I realize that while all that may be true, I have to still pursue my dreams because I will not be happy unless I do.

I’m ENFP and have very similar thoughts. Writing I wonder if I can keep at it to finish a complete piece though do have massive creative flair. Positive psych is really interesting though PHD and degree is long road – maybe life coach. And cafe – would love to make great coffee chat with customers and hang local art on the walls. Best of luck and I wonder if you chose one of these or something else entirely? I’m coming out of IT job and thinking change too.

Well, if it makes you feel better, one of my online friends just recieved her psych PHD. She felt discouraged because she was black and her first year of college she had 0.8 GPA!!!
If she can do it, hell yes you can.
Also, it is true most businesses don’t survive. That may because most people are not smart. I recommend you google Marie Forleo and take her advice. She is a millionaire off her own web-business being exactly who she is. No formula.
