"It was a dream come true living on my own in a metropolis."
How I did it: Worked as an intern in Mumbai for three months. Lived at the Y, traveled by local train, ate street food, stayed out at all hours of the night and bought all sorts of things at the thrift market. Bombay never sleeps!
I will always regret not attending a stage play and not going to the chor bazaar. Also, not stealing a street sign!
At least I did attend a poetry reading and a heritage walk at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival!
Lessons & tips: *Get ready for adventure!
*Never depend on anyone or have any sort of expectations that people will help you.
*When in a precarious situation, keep your cool.
*Don't be too sensitive about hostile people.
Resources: The Internet. That's where I found a place to work and a place to stay. But never give your word without visiting the place and meeting the people.
