How I did it: I have no sense of time. Zip, zero, nada. And when I concentrate on something I forget the world around me. I forget to eat, drink, move and even to use the loo. I tried many different things but the best tool for me is my timer. I got a timer with a quiet function (light or vibration alarm) so I can use it discretely (i.e. in the library or on the plain).

Lessons & tips: I set the timer for one hour and work. Then I switch from the hour function to the minute function and take a 15min break. I move through the day till I have worked 8 hours, then stop. Some breaks turn out to be longer, like lunch breaks and shopping trips to the grocery store. Though once I've done my 8h I'm free to have fun or relax :). With this tool I'm also keeping track of what I do each day (i.e. I write down what I worked on each hour). This helps me to identify where I waste time or where I procastinate on more important tasks.
