How I did it: My mother paid for it, and now I am paying her as though she were a credit card company. I would have bought the machine on credit, but alas, I was turned down for it.
Lessons & tips: figure out what you need now and what you want. Separate the two and place priority on what you need now. You can always trade in for a better machine later, but if lacking a laptop is costing you income, you'll never afford the dream machine anyway.
