How to sew Something
How I did it: I picked three different fabrics that I would use as the main part of my stocking. I learned to pick fabric without a grain to make more use of it. My fourth fabric I used as the top part that was folded down as the stocking. Making it fairly big, I cut out a stocking shaped pattern from butcher paper and would pin it to the fabric and then cut it out around the stocking. I made the pattern big enough to include the amount the would be sewed on so it wouldn't be to skinny. I had to make two sides for each stocking and when the sides were combined together, they had to have the nice side of the fabric sticking out! Once I repeated that to how many stockings I wanted to do, I cut the stocking trim out of my previous pattern, remembering to leave room for when it was sewed. It was just two rectangles for each stocking. I made a hem on each rectangle, sewed together the stockings after flipping them inside out and pinning them. Then, I pinned the rectangles to the still inside out stocking with the good side facing me because once the stocking is flipped back to normal, you fold the rectangles over, and you want the good side showing!
