How to exercise regularly
How I did it: I am 18 right now and throughout my teens I have been trying to get rid of my depression. I can finally say that the demons of depression no longer haunt me and the reason is exersice.
Before committing myself to a daily dose of exersice I would just say "Ya know, this bagel isn't going to make a difference. This donut isn't going to make a difference." But all of those "isn't" statements DID make a difference. I made a difference in the way I acted, the way I looked, and the way that I viewed myself.
It took me a good three weeks to finally say to myself "Okay, I am really going to go on that treadmil." Before I stated exercising, I must admit: I was scared. Scared of what I would leave behind me; I wasn't ready to give up pasta and those carbs that I love so much. I was also scared of not seeing results; putting all this effort in and getting nothing out.
The first day that I got on that treadmil I was praying just for the 20 minutes to be up. Now, I usually run while losing track of time.
I noticed that a week went by and my attitude towards everything sky-rocked and I felt so positive and confident in myself. I can now look in the mirror and accept who I am.
Lessons & tips: Number one lesson would be to just dive right into exercising. You don't have to run or lift weights like the pros. Start off small and you will see gradual improvement.
Be consistent, don't exersice once a week and that it. You will learn to love the feeling, just don't give up!
