How to get my thyroid checked
How I did it: I had to go to three doctors to get a full panel thyroid.
The first doctor was a stupid bitch who made me wait an hour and then she wouldn't even give me the full panel. She said,"You look fine, so we won't go through all that work." When it would be the lab techs working and not her! Then she scheduled me another apptment in the morning, and said in the morning that I wouldn't have to wait so long, and when I called to CANCEL my appointment that was at ten, the lady cancelling it told me that it was at ten forty five. Yeah, first doctor was a lying, dumb bitch.
Second doctor my insurance wouldnt cover so they wanted to do a check up on me, make me pay about a hundred bucks for it, and then get my thyroid tested by someone else if there were any concerns. I said no to that joke. The receptionist herself lied to me as well, because when I tried to schedule my apptment she said if the patient has any concerns the doctor will address them, and when I actually came there, she said if the doctor finds ANYTHING WRONG he'll recommend you to someone else to give you the test.
Third doctor people actually gave me a full panel. Didn't need a physical to give to these people either.
I knew that I may not even pass any of the numbers, BUT I wanted to know if I was heading there, because I am trying to lose weight, and I don't want to be kicking a wall, if I am heading in the direction of a disease. I would like to know if I am heading in that direction or not, so I don't beat myself up about not losing weight as quickly as I could.
Lessons & tips: Look in the phone book, and find someone that will cover your insurance.
Also people lie. You can't help that. If they lie to you, just move on to someone else and if they refuse to give you a full thyroid panel, tell them that you won't be paying them if they give you a general test and that you want the good test, otherwise you won't be paying them.
