How to pay off debt
How I did it: I started by putting away my credit card. So not to accumulate any more debt. I kept it but as long as I was not carying it around I wouldn't use it impulsively. I only owed about $2500 so this wasn't monumental undertaking in that respect. For me the trick is not encreasing the debt since the good folks at Cap 1 were more than willing to lend to me. I've been the starving actor and comedian for 20 years. I'm used to being broke and using credit to stay afloat. Next I found a better paying job. I rolled the increased income into the credit card payments since it charged the highest interest. at the same time I increased my car payments to relleive that stress. once the car was payed for I could get cheaper insurance.- That windfall I pretty much spent on myself. I kept my expenses low and decreased a few others; eating out less, watching cable instead of going out to or renting movies as I got closer to paying off the debt I began to make. there have been a couple of times when the card has come in handy. So far Ihaven't charged anything that I could not pay off that month. Mostly I enjoy the feeling of not having that burden. Since I no longer have debt, much of the money that I used to send to finance companies, is now going into savings. I plan to buy a house with it someday. Cash!
