How to write a play
How I did it: The best choice I made was to keep the script short. By setting an attainable minimum on page numbers, I was able to focus on quality and not quantity. I worked a few times a week for two months, and was able to turn out a script I could be mildly proud of.
Lessons & tips: -Focus on quality, not quantity. A short, wonderful play is more entertaining than a long, boring one.
-Do your homework. Take classes, and read up on formatting and technique. This will keep you organized and on track.
-Create a writing community for yourself. Whether it's your best friend who loves to read or a classmate from a writing course, find people who are willing to give you honest, good criticism.
-Don't rush when developing the plot. If there's one thing I would've done differently, I would have absolutely spent more time developing my idea.
