How to shave my head
How I did it: The actual act of shaving one's head is easy. Just take a razor or a pair of clippers or go to the barber's. It takes about an hour or so if you do it yourself. But getting down to DOING it .. that takes time. I think I thought about it for about a year before one day I just went and did it.
I love the way it feels .. although I didn't like the fully shaved feel (head kept getting caught on pillowcase! LOL) for the past year I've been "buzzing" my head .. i.e. with the clippers on the shortest setting so it's less than 1 mm long. It feels incredibly good. Love just holding my head in my hands sometimes! I'm not sure why I do it .. freedom from society's rules for "feminine" ? As a sacrifice of some sort .. to remind me that I'm more than my looks .. to feel monklike? I don't know. It's also great not to worry about shampoo conditioner haircuts and there's no such thing as a bad-hair day. Right now I'm growing it back and it's about 2 cm long. Maybe will buzz it again but not now cos it's too cold.
Lessons & tips: Without hair, your skin will dry and flake more .. it's not dandruff, don't worry. But you might need to moisturise your head more. I used to put Johnson's baby oil on my head. Also wore hats a lot on cold or windy because it can really be cold without hair! Also very sunny days can feel much hotter on a bare scalp.
