How to adopt an animal
How I did it: My husband and I had one of our cats run away from us and thought that our one cat that we had left would get lonely. So, we went to the local animal shelter and spent a lot of time looking at all of the cats. We really took the time to assess each cat's personality so that we could get one that would mesh well with our cat at home. When we found the perfect kitty, we filled out some forms, put his harness and leash on and took him home. Now the kitty, Pumpkin, is a great and loved member of our family. Lessons & tips: Adopting animals is so rewarding! Be prepared to fill out a questionnaire because most places require that. Some have a "background check" where they confirm that you have a job and are allowed to have pets at your current residence. Remember that you might not get your pet the day you want it. They might have a process they have to go through. Make sure you have money for an adoption fee, because most places charge one. I had to pay $10 but have seen adoption fees up to $70.
