How to get a tattoo
It made me

"Meh. I'm going to withhold judgement until I'm 80 years-old or so."
How I did it: My two college roommates and I all got the same tattoo (a fleur-de-lis). We're all from New Orleans and this was one of those "remember where you are from" things - well that and one of those - we've been talking about it for 4 years, let's do it already things.
In hindsight, it's really not that big of a deal. I can't, in good conscience, recommend this to anyone, yet I can't recommend against it either. Just don't get something you'll regret (girlfriend's name) or put it someplace you'll regret (hand, face, neck, small of back).
The bottom line - unless it's a seriously regretful decision (see above), in a few years you won't think it's that big of a deal.
Lessons & tips: Get your first one someplace that can only be seen when your pants are off.
