How to help people
How I did it: I began by looking for volunteer work, and stumbled across an organization, whose work I was extremely committed to. I went through the training and became an advocate for survivors of sexual assault. I since have quit my shitty retail job to do this full-time, and absolutely have no regrets.
Lessons & tips: Just find something you are truly committed to, whether it be children,
the homeless or the thousand of animals who need an voice. Then,
contact the organization, do any training necessary, and commit to it! I'm
willing to bet that your life, and the lives of those you touch will be
better for it.
Resources: Look on the internet, and in the phone book. Ask friends and family! Contact old employers who are willing to write you a glowing letter of recommendation.
