Who is your guru?
Sounds like you have an action plan that’s working for you. If you don’t mind my asking, who is your guru?
How I did it: I have been wanting positive people around me for years. I realize now that it is my behavior that is the key. "You teach people how to treat you"... that's a Dr. Phil and a lesson given by many people. I now counsel once a week with my "guru" teacher/counselor by telephone for 1/2 an hr, @ $1.00 a minute. We review my progress. I now choose who I want in my life. I found out that I certainly don't do well with people of DENIAL... excuse making, justification, rationalization, minimization, transference and projection.
Lessons & tips: Do whatever it takes to put yourself in a good mood: Eat healthy food, drink water, avoid sugar (I stick with sugar-free healthy substitues), exercise, get some SUN or use a Medi-Light (sun light). Listen to POSITIVE reinforcement messages on tape, Ipod, etc. Use self-hypnosis cassettes or CD's. Do ANYTHING "out there" to build healthy self-esteem.
Resources: Resources: Books by Toby Rice Drews (Getting Them Sober), CODA - Co-Dependent Support Groups, Family Service Counseling (these were before I met my "guru"). Potentials Unlimited (self-hypnosis MP3 or cassettes), prayer- watching Joel on Sunday TV. Do not go where the negative ones go...find new groups to enjoly @ Meetup.com and start your own Meetup.com group - to encourage positive people to be with you. ONWARD!
