How to sURVIVE HIGHSCHOOL
How I did it: I struggled a lot with my grades when I started out in High School, as well as the general social problems that come with that age, and for a while I didn't think I'd make it. But when I almost failed a class, I decided that I had to make a change. I worked a lot on developing organizational and study skills, and made sure I was taking some classes that I could enjoy. I found that the more I was willing to involve myself, the more fun and friendships I had--though the tradeoffs with time and energy could be a problem.
Lessons & tips: The biggest advice I have for doing this is to remember that it will be over sooner than you think--even the worst aspects of grade school are only temporary. (And I've found college to be much better.)
If you're struggling with something in particular, don't be afraid to ask for help. It's hard to swallow your pride, but sometimes getting what you want and what you need is more important than your ego.
Do things that you enjoy. Make sure that, every day, you have at least one reason to get up in the morning, and at least one reason to be happy about going to school--because you get to see your friends, because that's where the vending machines are, because there's a picture in your locker of your favorite movie star, whatever. Just so long as there's something.
