How I did it: I grew a beard and kept it well trimmed until the day was right, then shaved it and was left with a great stache.

I knew it was time to shave it off when I missed the bus (gave up my car, see "reduce your environmental footprint" on 43things) and ran to catch a cab, jumpped into the back a bit out of breath, and the driver just looked at me and the light turns green and he refused to drive! I was like come on man I have a flight to catch... still just looks at me. I showed him I had money and he starts driving but does not speak to me... never in my life had this happened before and it was not the first person to give me a weird vibe during my mustache week.
