How I did it: If you live in a big city like New York, you most likely already do this every year without realizing it! It just takes time to write them all down. If you live in a smaller city, it might be harder to do it without really trying. Even if you are trying, it doesn't take a ton of effort - when you're going out to dinner, to a bar, to the park, why not go to one that you haven't been to before? The key is to keep this goal in the back of your head so you are thinking of it when you're making decisions about where to go - you can then decide to pick somewhere more off the beaten path!
