How to drink more water and less soda
How I did it: I used to drink lots of soda in middle school, but I had trouble sleeping at night. I realized that the problem was I was drinking soda for dinner every night, and the caffeine kept me awake. Once I got to high school, I eliminated caffeinated beverages from my diet -- aside for the occasional going out or ordering pizza (doesn't taste too good with water). I found myself to feel healthier, and I could sleep better at night. It was worth getting an actual good night's sleep. Also, working out helped my insomnia.
Lessons & tips: Coke isn't healthy, it's high in sugar, and caffeine. It's part of the reason there is a growing obesity concern. Eliminate coke, and drink lots of water. Plus coke makes you dehydrated, so it doesn't exactly quench your thirst.
Resources: My family aren't big soda drinkers, so it helped in that way.
