How to start a blog
How I did it: I used blogger.com. I think it's the easiest way to get the design laid out with a minimum of hassle. You can host your own blog, but that always involves site maintenance, additional costs, and other worries. With Blogger, you get ease of use while still having several options to add some variety to your templates.
Lessons & tips: The scope of the blog was something I put a lot of thought into. Would it be a strictly personal blog? Would I talk about work and topics that affect my field? How would I manage my anonymity?
In the end, I had some things on my mind and I just got started with writing them down. I've let the blog's scope evolve with each post.
Resources: I've tried to stay on top of the news and blog about emerging topics. The website for my newspaper has been a big help in that regard.
