How to work for Disney
How I did it: Ever since I came to Disneyland for the first time in 7th grade with my parents, I've always admired the people who were working there. I thought to myself that someday I would want to work at Disneyland too. Seven years later, I found a website that gave me the perfect opportunity to work for Disney. I joined the Disney College program in Disneyland, CA and now here I am on the first internship of my life. Sadly, my program is coming to an end soon on Jan. 3rd. It was one of the best and hardest 8 months of my life considering I was 8 hours away from all my friends and family and that I was on my own for the very first time.
Lessons & tips: The first 2 weeks of the program was the hardest because I was homesick ALL the time and I had to get accustomed to the big city since I was from a small town. Self-determination is the biggest thing you will need because people will bring you down by telling you bad things about Disney. Stick to what you believe in and don't let them get to you. 200 students got in but before the program ended, at least 50 or more students quit the program. I admit I was so close to quitting one time but I kept pushing myself and when I did, I realized that it wasn't so bad. Treat Disney as a real job or even more, treat it as a potential career and you'll be fine. If you're living in housing, be prepared to be broke most of the time. Budget your money wisely because trust me, you will be short on a $636 or sometimes a 795 dollars rent.
