How to do the 2008 TBR challenge
How I did it: I made a list of books I wanted to read. It was quite a bit longer than 12. I read the "core" 12 books I set out to read and most of my alternates. I also added in other books that I already owned which seemed to fit the themes I was reading. I was able to do the reading by spending less time watching TV and perpetually having my nose in a book when I wasn't up to something else.
Lessons & tips: Tastes change - the list I made in 12/07 was not the list I would make now. A year ago I didn't find fiction very interesting. The last few months I've been reading almost nothing but fiction.
Resources: Being a book addict, I already had plenty of books on hand. Having a good reading light by the side of the bed was an absolute necessity. Having a music player with plenty of instrumental music made it possible to read in hospital waiting rooms and other public places where folks haven't learned to use an "inside" voice or that using a cell phone is intrusive. (My MP3 player is a Sanse E260 running RockBox firmware)
