How to go dumpster diving
How I did it: A guy at my work brought a huge bag of rolls one day and was sharing with workmates - he told us he got them from dumpster diving and I jumped up and asked him to take me along! From there I joined a small group of people who met every Monday night and drove around our city in two separate cars and collected a mountain of food to share amongst us.
Lessons & tips: It's good to be with people who can excite and motivate you. Sometimes the crap weather or busy schedules can prevent you from going diving, but personally it's much better than doing it by yourself unless you consider yourself a seasoned pro!
Also, don't get yourself carried away by the excitement as it is considered illegal in many places. A decent level of maturity and trust between people is needed at times.
Resources: In our city where things are very spread out, it's almost impossible to do this without a car. Usualy one person has a car and everybody would chip in for petrol.
Trust, maturity and willingness to help out is also crucial.
