"Took Tae Kwon Do lessons and learnt to defend myself. "
How I did it: Rang Moon Lee Tae Kwon Do, my local school, and showed up! I got to yellow belt which is about the 3rd level. It costs about $15 a lesson when I was going.
The classes are warming up, and warming down and you learn moves in between. You also get taught your routine which is assessed at grading, and obviously the longer you are in the class, the more complex this becomes.
At Moon Lee, the biggest philosphy about self defence is to fight with your mind first and defend yourself only, not inflict harm.
Lessons & tips: Committment is essential to learning and getting the most of this. You have to train twice a week and its quite a workout. Pick a smaller class so you don't have to share the trainer as much.
Resources: None, just my trainer and classmates
