How to live bi-coastal
"Rent-control! And working freelance doesn't hurt either. If you can create a big enough demand for yourself on both coasts, I say DO IT!"
How I did it: I had a nice place on the UES of Manhattan that I rented for under $700 a month, then when I had a great opportunity in LA, I could still afford to keep my NY apt by finding a place to sublet for under $600 and still not live COMPLETELY out of my means.
Lessons & tips: There is a lot of great (inexpensive) housing available if you just keep looking!
