I’m so happy that you had the courage to do such a great step in your life. Everything will be better from now on.
I want to be as brave as you some day. To live in a huge city where all the doors are open seems like a fairytale to me.
How I did it: I have been toying with the idea of leaving for quite a few years, but I could never get up the courage. My mind was always full of what ifs:
What if I can't make any new friends?
What if I can't find a job?
What if leaving my family means not seeing them anymore?
What I realized was that this world is full of uncertainties, and we can either stay in a solid, boring ball of safety, or we can get up and take some risks. So I took some huge ones. People said it was stupid, that I would surely end up homeless, that I couldn't possible make it alone.
It was very rash, all went very fast. It was maybe two weeks before I moved that I put my notice in at work and told my landlord I was leaving. I completely threw it all up in the air, hoping that it would all fall into place, that I would be free from the place I had been trapped for so many years.
Now, here I am. I have ia gorgeous house. I have found a job, too, and sure, it's nothing glamorous, but it pays the bills, and I don't hate it.
I have accomplished my ultimate goal, and now, I am unstoppable. Watch out world, I'm on the loose.
Lessons & tips: You will never be able to do anything unless you take chances. Moving to a foreign town is a big thing, possibly life changing, and it can be very scary. Remember to keep your friends and family close, because they will always just be a phone call away if you feel scared, or you just don't know what to do.
