How I did it: I booked an appointment with my favourite hair artists at a place that has all-vegan hair products - deLorenzo. They are really nice folks who make good tea and coffee, and still ask about a friend who also used to go there who has been in the UK for a couple of years now. They also ask vegan questions with a genuine sort of interest and no snideness. Very pleasant. Oh, and they cut hair good, too. Obviously.
Lessons & tips: Find hair people who you get along with, who "get" you and what you want.
