How to make jello eggs
How I did it: I used the whole blow out a real egg, clean the inside with water & fill it with jello mixture method (you can find a more in depth step by step guide by just googling jello eggs).
Lessons & tips: USE A MOLD! USE A MOLD! USE A MOLD!
I can't see the real egg method working...ever! I was thinking that since so many people had written that method online, then it should come out okay, but I'm guessing that they might have copied and pasted the method without actually trying the damn thing. I took the suggestion, where you tape the holes (the ones that you blow the egg out of the shell) to keep the jello from coming out of the shell while the jello sets, but no matter what sort of tape I used, it still ended up leaking. Frustrated & still really wanting it to work, I took the eggs and submersed them into a huge bowl of jello mixture so that I didn't have to deal with tape anymore. That actually worked! But it seriously shouldn't be that complicated. I still felt a little twinge of victory after figuring out some way around it. But THEN! when the jello is set, you have to pull the eggs out of the bowl full of jello and clean them off before cracking and peeling the shell. This was a gawd awful pain in itself. Then when I cracked them, there was still that thin layer of membrane stuck on my thought to be perfect idea of jello eggs. I painstakingly peeled this stuff off (which is definitely easier said than done) & I was left with falling apart egg smelling jello eggs. With what little hope I had left for these jello eggs, I popped one into my mouth. It actually didn't taste that bad :) but the thought of the egg smell took away any pleasure the taste produced.
So all in all, the whole real egg shell jello egg method is definitely not worth it! I'll probably try the jello egg mold method in a year or so; once my new found hatred for jello eggs has mended :D
