"Fantastic, it is a truly wonderful instrument."
How I did it: I started taking lessons in september, and I have previous knowledge of music and stuff (I play flute to grade 8 standard and have previously played violin) so it made it considerably easier to learn for me, if you are starting from scratch with no previous musical knowledge don't expect to progress as quickly as this, as string instruments are extremely hard to learn to play, but percevere! It will be worth it! I'm now starting Grade 4 pieces in the hope of taking my Grade 8 at the beginning of 2010.
Lessons & tips: Get a good teacher that you get on with. It is brilliant to have a teacher who you can relate to and be friendly with, but don't let too much chatting get in the way of your lesson! Remember that you're paying for them, so don't waste them! Have a structured practice, and make sure that you do it when you're at your best, as to not fall into bad playing habits.
Resources: This is a practice structure that works well.
