How I did it: By making the effort to seek out new things I expanded my world. It also took some effort to realize that a "new thing" didn't necessarily mean that I had to jump off a bridge or eat fried bugs or do anything that might appear on 1,000 Stupidest Ways to Die. New also means listening to music you might not ordinarily listen to (for me this mean a whole day of bluegrass...and I discovered I kinda liked it), or just taking a different route to and from the subway.
Lessons & tips: Recognize that new things might be scary but they can also be enjoyable.
Resources: Museums, bookstores, movies, libraries, public places (people watching is splendid!)
