Start small, don’t overextend, grow organically rather than speculatively (the global financial crisis is proof enough of this). Don’t get discouraged. Keep wall or computer organizers of money coming in and going out, clients added, contacts added per month. So much better than fearing a layoff. It’s up to how hard you work to make it profitable.
How to start my own company
How I did it: I did this by signing up on LegalZoom. I ended up making my own freelance web development company. I have a few clients already, so I'm very happy that I started it. I say this even though I have a full-time job as well. The business is a side-project that is for fun and might turn into something down the road.
