How to be an Entrepreneur
How I did it: In 1994 I started a tiny newsletter in my basement. It grew into a magazine, which I published for 8 years. When the local economy wouldn't support the magazine any more, I freelanced for a while. Now I have a dance/yoga studio.
Lessons & tips: Make sure you're self-directed enough to really work without supervision.
Don't get caught up in trappings of fancy offices, etc. Spend your money only on what your customers will see.
Don't treat business as a get-rich-quick scheme. Look for a real service or product you can provide that fills a real need for people, offer them value. Business should be a win-win for everyone.
Be scrupulously ethical and always give 110%
If you're going to work in an industry you haven't worked in, get a job in that industry first and learn about it from the inside.
