How to have the canned food drive I'm in charge of be a wild success
"This was such a rewarding experience, not just by personally being able to good; but, by also being able to have our alumni assoc. members & friends also share in that same feeling!"
How I did it:
One of the board members donated her beautiful new apt for the location, board members all brought a bottle of wine or an app and we invited all the members of the alumni assoc & had it open for friends as well—terrific time had by all!!!
Entry = 5 dollars or 2 cans of food.
Entry into the raffle: add’l $5 or add’l 5 cans of food.
I made a bunch of choc chip cookies, brownies, and sea salt caramels and packaged them up in take out boxes for raffle prizes.
And I donated a bottle of nice champagne, to go to the person who donated the most.
We’ll definitely be doing this Wine Tasting/Canned Food Drive Event again next year—highly recommend!!!
End result: 150 lbs of food & $60 donated to the SF Food Bank!!!
Lessons & tips: It's SO EASY to incorporate some aspect of charity into social events & ppl LOVE it!!!
