How I did it: I had needed to get one for school and I think it would have helped my grade if I had not been all wishy-washy and just did it sooner. I know very little about computer reqirements so, luckily, the school gave a list of requirements they thought it needed. The one I finally got is 17-inches with lots of flashy lights. I love it but am paranoid to take it anywhere for fear it will get stolen. I bought a security cable but I'm still freaked about leaving the room it's in.
Lessons & tips: Definitely ask other people their recommendations about brands and such. I work in a place with a lot of employees and was able to ask what brands some of them liked and disliked and why. It helped narrow my search.
