How to get a tattoo

"awesome. significant and meaningful."
How I did it: Decided the day before my birthday that my birthday present to myself would be to finally get a tattoo. I had a design in mind, printed it off exactly the size I wanted it, went to a highly recommended local shop, asked the dude how long he had been doing tattoos and when his answer was "25 years" I got it done.
My tat is a simple, blocky design that an apprentice artist could probably do pretty easily, otherwise the artist vetting process would have been a little more involved.
Lessons & tips: Get something significant and meaningful. Interview your tattoo artist, make sure they are experienced and confident.
