How to decide whether to transfer schools or not
How I did it: Unfortunately, I did poorly my Freshman year. I was miserable. I've obviously considered transferring a lot since then, but since my gpa was so poor, I was in trouble. Last summer (two years later), I decided to apply to Truman State University and just see what happened. Lo and behold, I was accepted. However, everything was last minute and I decided to defer my acceptance and try to make the best of my current school. However, I have decided to transfer now.
Lessons & tips: I've actually gotten quite a few emails about this (I posted it as a question way back when on yahoo answers)
What I usually say is this:
-Study hard even if you're miserable at your school
-If you're a Freshman, wait until the end of the year to make the decision to transfer
-Do your research! Your hindsight on the process can be extremely useful.
