How to lose 20 pounds
How I did it: It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, once I started. I continued to exercise a few days a week, at the gym, usually on the treadmill, lifting weights occasionally. Most of what I did that worked was limit my portion sizes. I eat a lot of fast food, and I experimented with ways I could eat just a tiny bit healthier. I took the buns off of burgers. I ordered the snack wrap instead of the meal. I cut out fries entirely.
I also bought slim fast and instant breakfast powders, and I drank one for breakfast, and one for dinner. For lunch, I ate what I wanted to, and just limited the portions. When I was hungry, I snacked lightly, and I kept a stock of slim fast dinner and snack bars for when hunger struck.
I tried to move a little more during the day. I teach kindergartners, so I tried to get up and move around with them more at play time and dance time.
Lessons & tips: Cut portions and move more throughout the day.
Don't do anything extreme, because you won't stick with it.
Make lunch your big meal of the day, and don't eat after 7pm.
Resources: I like http://www.mpyramidtracker.gov . It's free, and it's simple to use. I even thought it was kind of fun. There's also wellness360, where you can actually get paid to log in your exercise and meals for the day! That's pretty cool too.
