How to overcome my OCD
"It's not the strength of your medication, but the strength of your will, that will get you through this. You will get through this."
How I did it:
- Don't be afraid to ask for help. Often people who know you well just can't believe there's something wrong because they don't see what goes on in your mind - get help from a doctor or counselor. It will make a world of difference just having someone objective to talk to.
- If your doctor suggests medication, don't discount this option right away - and don't assume it will solve all your problems. If properly prescribed and appropriately used, anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medication can assist you in solving your problems by making you more chemically balanced - but this is not where it ends - you are still on the journey to recovery.
- If you do go on medication, make sure you see your doctor every 1-2 months at least at first.
