How I did it: Being a single parent can be frustrating when it comes to sharing "custody". Special times and events happen at times when it is "not your day" with the kids. But there is nothing that says you have to celebrate those events on that day. So I decided to create my own celebration and make my kids half birthdays a special day too. I mark on my calendar 6 months out enter a reminder. I buy them some really cheap, silly, random gifts that remind me of them. I wrap them up an dsurprise them with the gifts that day. Then we do something together. It is esay to ask for that time from their Mom, because it is just another day to her.

Lessons & tips: Give them simple, silly, random gifts on their half birthday.
