How to learn to knit
How I did it: Just finally sat down and started doing it. And then found a pattern that I really liked - and sat down and started doing that... until it was done (and I'm wearing them - slippers - now).
Lessons & tips: I was teaching someone to crochet - and I said, "I dont care how you do it - but try this, and make it look like this (one stitch)... and then do that again and again... AFTER you know how to do it.. then we'll figure out what you're doing and what its "formally called - and from there - we'll teach you the other things you need to know."
and then I decided to try that bit of advice - on me - with knitting needles (which I have tried to learn over and over and over and endlessly frustrating..
my first stitch - which was what I just figured out how to do.. was a knit in the back loop... (I figured that out half way through a project.. that I was not "knitting" I was knitting in the back loop... so I finished the project and started somethign else - Knitting - properly this time...so now I have three - knit, purl, and knit in the back loop.. which then helped me understand how to increase by knititng into the front loop and then into the back loop..
so.. once I got somethign to work with - it was just much easier!
Resources: I used the Lion Brand website "Learn to Knit" instructions mostly (and still have them open!)
