How I did it: Well, my move was perhaps harder than your average one. That is to say, I have moved, not only house, but country. The most difficult of which, is probably yet to come, as I have to apply for visas and permits, and all kinds of other fun things, as well as be adept in Swedish. Basically, we decided that I would move in with my boyfriend, Erik, as he is still going to be a student for another year and a half, and long distance is very hard! After that, I found out about all the legal complications, started learning Swedish, and planned a moving date. I had planned to move via ferry, so as most of my things could be transported, but this was not to be (the ferry company decided that fuel prices were too high, and they would be cancelling their ferries after the 1st of September - our ferry was scheduled for the 20th of the month). Instead, I have moved by airplane, and my things will be shipped later.

Lessons & tips: Patience. This is key, and make sure that you have saved money so that you have enough to support you should there be difficulties (of course, mine is an extreme case, most people have jobs and plans lined up before they move).
