How to design a new blog

"I feel so good now that I have a blog that reflects my personality and tastes!"
How I did it: First I researched which platform I wanted to use and compared pricing, etc. Then I signed up for a free trial so I could play around with it. I did a mock up in Illustrator, and then made all my graphics and buttons and added them to my page. After that, I scrapped everything I had done, made a completely new mock up, and the end was perfection! : )
Lessons & tips: Be patient and research a lot. If you don't know how to do something, don't worry - just get started so you have your blog there. You can learn and get fancier as you go!
