How to join a book club
How I did it: Try meetup.com I found a great group of ladies that are awesome... The group started in August and is still fledgling, but we're going strong. I've become an assistant leader and we meet once a month. The books and discussions make me feel smarter & more connected to smart women!
Lessons & tips: Don't be scared! Realize that the other people in the group are probably just as afraid as you are, possibly more so. If you go to 1 meeting and don't click with everyone... you didn't lose much.
Resources: Meetup.com You can join an existing group or start your own. They also have suggestions on places to hold your meetup -- i.e. coffee shops & public places that are open to hosting events. My group meets at a wine bar where they reserve a table, wait on us and provide separate checks. It's great because the wine relaxes everyone a little and makes the conversation better!
