How to learn to samba
How I did it: I knew how to samba, but the lack of Brasilian community here kinda made me forget how to do it just right. I practiced what I knew and found videos online of samba schools to refresh my memory. I was going to take classes here, but decided they were a waste of money and I just needed to keep watching some of the better videos I found over & over until I got it. The key to samba is your hips. There are many styles of samba, but hip action is a rather important element of the dance. I also watched some African dancing from Angola since samba is an afro-brasilian dance. That helped tremendously/
Lessons & tips: Go to Brasil and visit a samba school. No lessons are taught, but if you have natural dancing ability, you'll pick it up. If all else fails, smile and try not to look too...stiff.
