How to plan and Execute Margaret Jill Coggeshall Memorial Concert and Dinner
"I memorialized my dear adopted Grandmother, Margaret Jill Coggeshall."
How I did it: Remembering Grandma Jill
Jill Coggeshall was one of the most memorable persons in my entire life.
I will remember her forever, much as I have remembered my early viola teacher, Betty Jeanne Miller, whose death occured 15 years ago this month.
Lessons & tips: Keep it simple.
Although we had a lot of music because Jill had been a musician and a committed supporter of the art, we had a simple living-room affair with food, and a table of pictures and flowers, with a few discrete candles. I gave a 15 minute talk summarizing much of her life, since I knew her best, and had pre-invited people to consider making a few comments (and invited them to write them down ahead of time).
Many remembrances were short, but touching.
We ended with Amazing Grace on the piano, singing along was optional.
It was really beautiful.
