How I did it: I moved into an apartment complex that allowed small dogs; I knew I didn't want a big one. I spent a lot of time researching dog breeds and deciding which breed was best for me. I ended up with a Yorkshire Terrier/Shih Tzu mix. The mix of the breeds brings out the qualities that I admire in both.
Lessons & tips: Make sure you do your research! Ask lots of questions and make sure to find a good vet.
