How to make a travel scrapbook
"Before we went to Maui, I sat down with all my Istanbul stuff, and just DID IT."
How I did it: I'd been collecting the materials for the scrapbook for a while, buying things I liked as I saw them. It was just a matter of sitting down with all that stuff, plus my photos and journal entries, and doing it. It didn't take me more than a couple of weeks, working off and on, and I was happy to relive that wonderful trip.
Lessons & tips: The "don'ts" are pretty basic.
- don't just shove everything in a box and forget about it
- don't over-think it
- don't wait forever
The "dos" are harder:
- DO keep a travel journal with you on trips (and write in it!)
- DO use those entries in your scrapbook
- DO take lots of pictures (and if digital print them out)
- DO pick up maps and brochures, save your ticket stubs - they make great additions
- DO put your pages together thoughtfully, taking time to remember what's going in in the photos, and include current impressions as well as your journal entries
