How to start saving money
How I did it: Opening a student Checking account made it really easy to start saving money. The bank that I applied with allowed me to open a Savings account along with it, and both of the accounts were free. With the help of online transfers, I've been able to start putting money into my Savings, and even set up a schedule so that a pre-determined amount of money is transferred every month.
Lessons & tips: Find a service that doesn't have monthly fees or minimum balances so that it's not costing you anything to have the account. Transfer small amounts of money at a time. For example, from each paycheck, decide that you will put a certain percentage or amount of it into your savings. Even if it's only $75 dollars per paycheck, it will add up!
