How to take a vow of silence by hamburglary

"the ultimate test of self-control."

How I did it: I committed everything to my vow.. not only did I not speak verbally, I didn't text-message or use the internet as a means of communication. Though I was still social and attended class, I was reduced to a game of charades or writing on a piece of paper.

Lessons & tips: Everytime I let a word slip out, I tacked on a day. Eventually I added on an additional four days. That was more than enough motivation for me.

Resources: My brain and self-control sufficed.

hamburglary has her nose in 'the great gatsby'.

I did it because I was so frustrated with being out of control of everything going on with my life at the time. And it certainly worked: it gave me the sense of control at needed at that time in my life. But after my vow, I learned what I was really grasping at at time; which is the power to let things go and to realize what I can control, what is beyond my own power, and how I can act accordingly.
